Coen Carr Injury Update: Star Returns After Scare
Coen Carr Injury Scare Provides Relief as Star Returns to Action
Michigan State basketball fans held their breath during Tuesday night's game against East Carolina University as star forward Coen Carr suffered an apparent injury that forced him to leave the court temporarily. The concerning moment turned out to be just a scare, however, as the talented junior was able to return to action and help lead his team.
The incident occurred with approximately 12 minutes remaining in the first half. Coming off a Spartan turnover, Carr was attempting to get back in transition defense when he planted his right leg to pick up an ECU player. The awkward landing caused him to fall to the ground, clutching his right thigh as play was stopped.

"He's earned his expectation that I've placed on him," head coach Tom Izzo said of Carr. "He's gotten better. He's gotten stronger. He's gotten bigger. His body fat I think is zero. And he's an unbelievable kid. So hard not to love Coen Carr."
Immediate Concern, Positive Outcome
Initially, the situation appeared serious. Carr was helped up from the court and made his way to the bench, where he received attention from the training staff. Broadcast cameras followed him as he tapped the inside of his right thigh while speaking with medical personnel.
At the time of his exit, Michigan State was leading 12-9. Carr had played all eight minutes of the game, contributing two points and one rebound. The Spartans managed to maintain their composure during his brief absence.
Thankfully, the injury proved to be less severe than initially feared. Carr initially left the bench to go into the trainer's room but quickly returned. After only a few minutes of game time, he was back on the court, much to the relief of teammates and fans alike.

Carr's Rising Stardom at Michigan State
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Carr came to Michigan State as a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023. He was ranked as the 31st player nationally and the eighth-ranked small forward in that recruiting cycle. Now in his third season, he's poised to take on an even larger role with the program.
This season, Carr has been nothing short of impressive. In five games, he's averaging 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He's shooting 54.3 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range. On the defensive end, he's contributing 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. Carr has started every game this season, showcasing his importance to the Spartans' success.
Looking Ahead
The game against ECU was part of the Ft. Myers Tip-Off Classic. Michigan State will return to action there on Thanksgiving Day against North Carolina in what promises to be a challenging matchup against one of college basketball's premier programs.
With Carr's health confirmed to be fine, the Spartans can continue their season with their star player fully intact. His ability to contribute on both ends of the floor will be crucial as Michigan State navigates a tough non-conference schedule and prepares for Big Ten play.
The brief scare served as a reminder of how vital Carr is to Michigan State's aspirations this season. Fortunately for Izzo and the Spartan faithful, their star forward appears to have avoided any serious injury and will be ready to continue his development as one of the team's key contributors.
