Despite excruciating pain, the third-round draft pick refused to leave the field on a medical cart. "If this is going to be the last time I'm on the field, I want to be able to walk off," he insisted. That moment of defiance set the tone for his arduous rehabilitation journey.

Overshown faced his second major knee injury in two years, having previously torn his ACL in his left knee during his rookie season in 2023. His rehabilitation was described as "harder than the first one" by associate athletic trainer Britt Brown, who added, "if there's anybody that can beat the odds, it's you."

The 343-day recovery process involved grueling physical therapy, strength training, and mental fortitude. Overshown remained determined throughout, focusing on his eventual return to the field. His perseverance paid off when he was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list in November 2025.
