Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition: Patch Notes & Mod Warning
Bethesda is celebrating a decade of the post-apocalyptic Commonwealth with the Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition, launching November 10, 2025. Ahead of this major release, the studio has detailed a comprehensive patch introducing quality-of-life improvements, critical gameplay fixes, and a groundbreaking Creations menu—while delivering a stark warning to modders.
What's in the Anniversary Edition?
The package includes all six official DLCs (Far Harbor, Automatron, Nuka-World, Contraptions, Vault-Tec, and Wasteland Workshop) alongside over 150 Creation Club items. Fans can expect unique power armor skins, Pip-Boy customizations, and even Mojave Desert-themed content. Most notably, a new Creations menu will let players seamlessly discover and download community-made content directly within the game on both PC and consoles.
Gameplay-Changing Patch Highlights
Bethesda's accompanying patch addresses long-standing player complaints:
- VATS Accuracy Fix: The infamous 10-year bug where VATS hit chances would drop to 0% or display incorrect values has been resolved. Chances are now consistent across platforms, and wall-targeting without the Penetrator perk is disabled.
- Ultrawide/Super Ultrawide Support: UI elements, HUD scaling, and the Pip-Boy map now work correctly on 21:9 and 32:9 displays. Crafting station crashes on ultrawide monitors are also fixed.
- Performance Improvements: Fixed stuttering from NPC visual mods and added resolution detection to prevent launch crashes.
- BNET Connectivity: Better handling during Bethesda.net outages.
Critical Warning for Mod Users
Between November 6-10, all Fallout 4 mods and Creation Club content will be offline for maintenance. Bethesda urges players to disable main menu-altering mods before the update to prevent irreversible compatibility issues. While existing saves will remain playable, mod downloading/uploading will be suspended during this period.
"Thank you for your patience as we lay the groundwork for future Creations expansion," Bethesda stated via Steam.
Platform Release Schedule
The Anniversary Edition arrives November 10 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Notably, it marks the series' debut on Nintendo hardware, with a Switch 2 release planned for 2026.
Why This Matters
Beyond the fanfare, the VATS fix validates years of community frustration. As Polygon reported, players have long suspected the system was broken—missing 95% shots was statistically improbable but regrettably common. This patch transforms a core mechanic, potentially revitalizing gameplay veterans.
Whether you're a settler of Sanctuary or a modding veteran, the Anniversary Edition promises a polished Commonwealth experience. Just remember to back up your mods before November 6!

Exploring the Creations Menu
The new in-game hub showcases professional and community creations, from escape rooms to "mind's eye" companion skins. Bethesda hinted at Mojavewoestinen-inspired content during Fallout Day, signaling future creative possibilities.
