Ghosts Thanksgiving: Kyle Returns in 'Planes, Shanes and Automobiles'
Ghosts Serves Up a Thanksgiving Treat: Kyle Returns!
Get ready for a heaping helping of hilarious hauntings as CBS's Ghosts delivers a special Thanksgiving episode titled "Planes, Shanes and Automobiles," airing Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 8:30/7:30c. The spirits of Woodstone Mansion are cooking up chaos, and they've recruited an old friend to help them out.
The Ghosts' Thanksgiving Scheme: Bring in Kyle!
While Sam (Rose McIver) is away on a book tour, the ghosts are feeling neglected with Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) as their sole caretaker. Unsatisfied with his ability to tend to their needs, the spirits hatch a plan to bring in someone better: Kyle (Ben Feldman)! Kyle, a living person who can see and communicate with the ghosts, makes a triumphant return to Woodstone. The ghosts see him as the perfect "babysitter," capable of handling their tedious tasks like turning book pages, changing channels, and plugging in night-lights.
However, Jay is far from thrilled to see his "nemesis" back in his home, especially after Kyle's awkward attempt to plant a kiss on Sam last season. To make matters worse for Jay, the ghosts – led by the ever-observant Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) – don't hesitate to rat out his eccentric eating habits while his wife is away, much to the amusement of Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long), who declares they "reek of shame." Expect plenty of friction and comedy between Jay and Kyle.
Sam and Pete's Travel Woes: Stranded Before Thanksgiving!
It's not just the ghosts causing trouble at Woodstone. Sam and Pete (Richie Moriarty) are on a book tour road trip that quickly turns sour. The duo gets on each other's nerves, testing their friendship to the limit. In a nod to the classic Steve Martin/John Candy film "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," their journey takes a disastrous turn when an airline strike threatens to leave them stranded far from home, jeopardizing their plans to return for Thanksgiving. Will they make it back in time for the turkey? Tune in to find out!
Why No New Ghosts Next Week? Football Takes Over!
After the Thanksgiving fun on November 20th, fans will have to wait a bit longer for new Ghosts adventures. The show is taking a break next week (November 27th) because CBS will be airing the annual Thanksgiving NFL game featuring the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Dallas Cowboys. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET, with Post Malone performing during the halftime show. Ghosts will return with a brand-new episode, reportedly titled "The Proposal," on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 8:30/7:30c.
What to Expect When Ghosts Returns
Don't worry, the Woodstone shenanigans won't stop for long. When Ghosts comes back in December, viewers can look forward to more hilarious ghostly antics, Sam and Jay navigating life together, and hopefully, some resolution to whatever chaos Kyle's return unleashes. With the show consistently delivering laughs and heart, the December episode promises another dose of the unique blend of comedy and supernatural charm that fans love.
Make sure to catch "Planes, Shanes and Automobiles" this Thursday, November 20th, on CBS at 8:30/7:30c, and streaming on Paramount+ the next day. Then, mark your calendars for the return on December 4th!
