We all have moments we'd rather forget, but for actress Olivia Munn, one particularly cringe-worthy incident has become public knowledge. During a recent appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends, the 45-year-old star shared the story of what she calls "one of the grossest things I've ever done in my life" - and it involves sushi, a bathtub, and some unfortunate consequences.

The Story Behind the Sushi Bath

Munn recounted the embarrassing tale while co-hosting the show on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The incident occurred while she was working in Vancouver, staying at the luxurious Shangri-La hotel. "I was working. I was really tired. This decision came from being exhausted," she explained.

The hotel, she noted, had "amazing sushi," and at the end of a long day of work, Munn found herself craving both a warm bath and something to eat. In a moment of what she now calls "exhaustion-induced decision-making," she placed the sushi on the ledge of her running bathtub.

"I needed to take a bath, and I also needed to eat. So I put the sushi next to the bathtub. And I had the bath going. And I got busy and I came back and I was in the bath and I started eating the sushi from the bath," she admitted.

The Unfortunate Aftermath

The seemingly harmless decision quickly turned into a nightmare. The next day, Munn found herself battling severe food poisoning. The worst part? It happened in the most public of places - the airport.

"I had food poisoning the next day. I was at the airport at the gift shop, just, like, [throwing up] into the trash can from afar," Munn recalled, miming the unpleasant experience. "I was like, 'I don't feel… [mimes puking].'"

Despite the sushi still tasting cold when she ate it, Munn believes the proximity to the hot bath water somehow caused the contamination. "Sushi's not supposed to be heated by bath water for sure," she said with a cringe.

Bathing Bliss vs. Bathroom Blunders

The mother of two clearly loves her baths, calling them "quiet time" and "the only moment I get to truly relax." In fact, she's so comfortable in bathtubs that she once spent the night in one while staying at a hotel in Paris, joking that "Asian families have zero personal space."

Despite the food poisoning experience, Munn hasn't sworn off baths. "I love a bath. I need a bath," she reiterated, showing that even celebrities learn from their mistakes - but some habits are just too hard to break.

The story has quickly gone viral, with many fans sharing their own "bathroom dining" mishaps in the comments. While Munn may regret sharing this particular story, it serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of multitasking when you're exhausted - and the importance of keeping food away from running water.

"I hate myself for telling that story," Munn joked after sharing the tale, showing that even celebrities can have relatable, cringe-worthy moments.
