Princess Charlene of Monaco once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to animal welfare as she took center stage at the second edition of the Rokethon, a solidarity walk dedicated to fighting animal abandonment and cruelty. The event, held under the Chapiteau de Fontvieille, showcased the Princess's dedication to protecting animals and promoting adoption.

A Royal Connection to Animal Welfare

As the President of Monaco's Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) since 2022, Princess Charlene has made animal welfare a cornerstone of her charitable work. This recent appearance continues a series of engagements highlighting her deep connection to the cause.

"A dog, for example, will love you more than it loves itself," Charlene once said in an interview with Gala. "Animals are very loyal and their devotion is unconditional. They are wonderful companions." This sentiment reflects the passion that drives her advocacy work.

The Rokethon Event

The Rokethon, now firmly established in Monaco's community calendar, turns a simple dog walk into a powerful act of advocacy. Accompanied by her eight-year-old chihuahua Harley—a rescue dog who has become a constant companion in her public appearances—the Princess completed a symbolic one-kilometer loop around the venue.

"The Princess attended the second edition of the Rokethon, an initiative that turns a dog walk into an act of advocacy," reported the Monaco Tribune. "At her side was her faithful four-legged companion Harley, her eight-year-old chihuahua."

Dressed casually in a camel Max Mara parka and dark jeans, Princess Charlene blended seamlessly with other dog owners showing their commitment to the cause. Her brother, Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of her Foundation, joined her for the event, emphasizing the family's dedication to animal protection.

Global Impact and Collaboration

Following the walk, the Princess visited workshops and stands dedicated to animal welfare and adoption. She also met with Mrs. Lee Ji-yeon, the South Korean representative of Last Chance for Animals (LCA), to discuss the organization's landmark legislative victory in 2024.

The LCA played a key role in the historic law adopted in South Korea, banning the breeding, slaughter, distribution, and sale of dogs for human consumption. This meeting highlighted Princess Charlene's interest in global animal rights issues and her willingness to collaborate with international organizations.

Continued Commitment to Animals

The Rokethon appearance is just one of many recent animal-related engagements for Princess Charlene. Just last week, she attended the inauguration of Monaco's new police canine unit, a project she helped establish in collaboration with Monegasque authorities. The unit, based at the Police Department's modern headquarters, specializes in detection and rescue work.

In September, the Princess also appeared at the launch of "It's a Dog's Life," a photography book featuring more than 350 portraits of dogs in Monaco. Proceeds from the book were donated to the SPA to assist with adoptions and provide continued support for local shelters.

According to the Monaco Tribune, Princess Charlene and Prince Albert have four dogs: three Chihuahuas and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Their personal commitment to animal companionship complements the Princess's public advocacy work.

The Power of Solidarity

As Sylvia Sermenghi, President of Rokethon Monaco, reminded attendees, "an animal is not an object – it is a responsibility, a commitment and part of the family." This philosophy resonates with Princess Charlene's approach to animal welfare, which combines practical support with raising awareness.

The funds raised at the Rokethon will benefit the SPA Monaco, as well as the charities Brin de Chance (Nice) and Nos Amis pour la Vie (Marrakesh), extending the impact of Princess Charlene's advocacy beyond Monaco's borders.

Through her consistent presence at events like the Rokethon, Princess Charlene continues to shine a light on the importance of animal welfare, adoption, and responsible pet ownership, inspiring others to join her cause.
